  10. Lenten Book Study (for people who want something a little different): Winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for fiction (and yes, an Oprah's Book Club pick), Cormac McCarthy's The Road is a stark and sometimes disturbing tale about a dystopian future through which wander a father and son, sustained only by love, "each the other’s world entire." Well-known Christian author Timothy Radcliffe, OP shares with us that McCarthy "writes beautifully and it is indeed an excellent Lenten book... The Christian references are few, very discreet, tiny nudges, but all the more powerful for that."

We will thus be approaching the novel as a desert story (a traditional Lenten motif) in which our engagement with the discomfiting story will, we pray, help us grow in our understanding of the desert experience in which the individual (or community) learns to rely on God's grace alone. Suggested reflection questions will be sent by email, and two Zoom-based discussions will occur on Monday, March 21 at 7:00 PM and Friday, April 8 at 7:00 PM. A suggested pace of 8 pages per day will ensure that you finish in time for Holy Week.

Sign up by filling in the online form HERE

Facilitated by The Rev'd Matthew Kieswetter, and presented by St. Andrew's Memorial Anglican Church. All are welcome.

  13. Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen – Annual Meeting by Zoom on April 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
As last year, we are having to hold our Annual Meeting virtually and will not be able to have a conference.  All members are encouraged to join the executive for this meeting.  Please email Sheldon Parsons, Zoom co-ordinator, at sheldon@kent.net to get the link. A new BACTalk issue has been posted on the BAC website - https://bac.diohuron.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/BACTalk-2022-01.pdf.  Check it for current information.  Check the BAC website  for more information.  Our commitment is to help all the men in the diocese as they assist in their parishes.

  14. The Annual Meeting of the ACW will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, on Zoom.
Please watch for further information on the meeting, and on registration. Recognizing that not everyone is comfortable with video-conferencing, or equipped to sign in, we encourage those who are able to do so to host appropriate gatherings (i.e., meeting whatever protocols are in place at the time) in their parishes or homes, so that as many women as possible can join in. We ask all those in leadership positions to pass this message along to the women of their parish, and to facilitate participation wherever possible.

  15. Holy Land Pilgrimage.   Canon Vicars Hodge and Bishop Terry Dance are leading a pilgrimage tour, May 21 – June 1, 2022.  You’re invited to join the group for the spiritual adventure of a lifetime. St. Jerome called the Holy Land “The 5th Gospel” because those who visit rarely leave the same as they arrive.  To walk where Jesus walked and meet the people of the land brings the Bible stories to life. (This tour has been postponed from 2020 and 2021.).
Canon Vicars Hodge is looking for a half dozen (or more) pilgrims to fill out the May 2022 Holy Land group.
There will be a much larger group going in 2023, but there are advantages to going this year: smaller group, fewer tourists, less time standing in line, time to linger at sites, reduced travel restrictions. Israel is open for tourists, so consider a trip this May. You must act quickly though. Deadlines for hotel bookings are fast approaching. All details: www.trinitytour.org
