St. Thomas the Apostle Church is proud to be part of the Anglican Deanery of Waterloo's Refugee Committee.
We have helped sponsor 7 families — 5 of them both financially and socially, and 2 government-sponsored families who needed our friendship to explore the community. The first family was from Myanmar, four families came from Syria, one family from Eritrea and one from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Many Deanery parishioners provided financial aid to the refugees. Volunteers from each of our parishes assisted the families to settle into life in Canada and to become independent. We are extremely honoured that one of the families has chosen to join our own congregation.
