Bio
Canon Karen has been a member of St Thomas the Apostle since 1986 when she found a welcoming congregation for her husband Dave, herself and their two young children. She was ordained a Deacon in 2003 and in that role, has served St Thomas the Apostle church in various outreach ministries including volunteer chaplain to a maternity home, running programs for children in a geared for income housing complex, working as chaplain in two Long Term Care homes, as well as leading programs to assist in the spiritual development of parishioners.
She has also served the Diocese of Huron through her work as a Fresh Start Facilitator, being a member of the Deacon's Board and Chaplain to Deacons in process, and being one of two Domestic Chaplains to the Bishop of Huron. She also served on the Strategic Planning Implementation Group as well as the Bishop's Committee on Mission and Ministry. Karen was appointed to the Cathedral Chapter of Canons in 2016.
Karen and Dave, in addition to their son Aaron, his wife Katelyn and their daughter Kendra and husband Brendan, have three beautiful grandchildren, Nora, Micah and Marco in whose lives they play an active role.
